International Mission Statement
We Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ are an international congregation of women religious within the Roman Catholic Church united to God and one another by public vows.
Inspired by Jesus Christ, the Chosen Servant, by Mary, Handmaid of the Lord and Catherine Kasper, our foundress, we strive to
- faithfully fulfill our Baptismal commitment
- listen and respond to the voice of the Spirit
- live simply and embrace joyfully our call to be apostolic
- risk personal and communal security for the sake of the Gospel.
As an apostolic congregation, we
- minister with and to the poor, the children, the elderly, the sick and the unwanted
- use our spiritual gifts, material resources and energy for the mission of the Church in society
- advocate for human rights and dignity
- work for environmental order and universal peace.
Our journey together in faith, daily prayer, sacramental life and community empowers us to serve in various cultures and to collaborate with Associates and all those who share our vision.
Rooted in faith and confidence in God, we participate in the redemptive mission of Jesus Christ and welcome the challenges of the future.
