St. Martin’s Donation

The student council and school principal of the Marienschule in Limburg handed over the considerable sum of 19,360 euros to the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ to help other people and thus give them better prospects for the future.

In the jubilee school year 2024/25, the Marienschule was once again fully committed to its 53rd St. Martin’s charity event.

During the time leading up to Christmas, the Marienschule organized a charity St. Martin’s Market for the third time. Here, all classes sold homemade items to raise the majority of the donations. In addition, Marienschule used the catering on Alumni Day and Open Day to increase the amount raised.

This week, the proud donation sum was symbolically handed over to Sister Pragasa of the PHJC. The €19,360 will be used to support two schools in India: Katherine Academy at Ara Gate in Ranchi, Jharkhand, will use the donations to upgrade the school to Senior Secondary Level and equip the necessary laboratories for biology, chemistry and physics. The second half of the donation will go to Shanti Nilaya High School in Dhamnod, central India. Following the construction of a new wing of the school due to leaking roofs, damaged walls and damp classrooms, 19 green blackboards are now needed for the classrooms.

Sister Pragasa is in close contact with the local sisters in Ranchi and Dhamnod. She gave an impressive report to the class representatives about the progress achieved through your donations and the gratitude of the pupils, their parents and the sisters on site in India.

Principal Dr Henrike Zilling praised the school community’s annual commitment to the St Martin’s donation and emphasized: “It’s always a great feeling for everyone involved to know that our efforts can help people in need.”

Another St. Martin’s market is planned for the 2025/26 St. Martin’s Day campaign in the school playground. All proceeds will once again be donated to ADJC social projects.
