Founding of the Circle of Friends of Katharina Kasper India
A Circle of Friends of Katharina Kasper (Freundeskreis Katharina Kasper Indien) has been created to support social projects of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in India. Founding members include the two former pastors of St Boniface in Wirges, Pastor Winfried Karbach and Pastor Ralf Plogmann. As these two priests have moved away from full-time work at the parish they continue to actively support work of the sisters in their direct service to disadvantaged people in India.
They are joined by four other Circle members also dedicated to communicating the needs of those the Sisters serve in India and supporting them financially. The current focus of these friends is the school at Sabasthiyar Puram and the trades-education of Ashalaya in Vidayanagar. Marlies Taugs, Dieter Taugs, Thomas Müller, Udo Naglo and Theo Preus have met regularly with Sr Judith, General Superior, and Sr Prakasha, congregational Treasurer, to create the documents that explain the relationships between the Friends and the PHJC Sisters and how the Circle of Friends will operate and make financial decisions.
The group has an office located in the Generalate area. They have also hosted an afternoon tea on November 27 that included a video detailing current PHJC ministries in India. Their effort is to expand the group of Friends to others who also carry a desire in their hearts to support needy ministries in India.
